Maya's First Birthday Cupcake

This is just a teaser...more to come on the birthday festivities, but this video sums up how Maya feels about the cake and cupcake portion of the events :)

I'm ONE!!!

That's right, folks...she made it...she's ONE!!!! This is a shot from our photo session last week. She was so funny with the cake - never really smashed into it -- just kind of licked the icing off of the top :) ...oh well, at least her mouth then matched her outfit! :)
We had a small dinner celebration with family here on Friday, but her big party is still coming next Saturday so that Nana and Grandpa and Uncle Keith can all be here, too! More big girl pictures to come!!!

Children's Museum with Megan!

Today Maya and her friend, Megan, went to the Kohl Children's Museum for the first time!! It definitely won't be our last!! They're a little young yet, but they still found many things to do and kids to watch! It will only get better as they get older and bigger!

Here's Maya playing the drums...she went right up to this table, grabbed the stick and started beating away! I think we're in trouble!! :)

The girls especially like the phones....there was a video screen that they could see other people who were on the phones....so cool!!

Here is where Maya spent story time in the play library. Not that into listening to the story yet, but loved to take all the books down and look at them!!

Had to take a picture here -- a Chase ATM! :) Well, really a giant calculator, but they had fun punching the buttons!

This was the best! Maya crawled over to this car and went right up behind the wheel like she already has her license!! :) Slow down, baby girl :)

What a difference a day makes!

So yesterday, Maya totally didn't get this toy...she knelt behind it and pushed it on her knees because it moved too fast for her to walk behind it. Today, I'm in the kitchen and I turn around and here she comes, walking behind the thing like she's been doing it forever!! :) ....Walking is getting closer !! :)

I met Santa!!!

That's right...Maya met the big guy himself, today!!! She was perfectly happy on his lap....and eventually smiled with some peek-a-boo activity behind the camera! :)

I love you, Macy!

Maya and Macy have a very close relationship :) We are lucky to have found a dog that is laid-back enough that I don't worry if the 2 of them are alone together...or if Maya has food that Macy wants...he is very gentle with her (he must know that he will eventually get the food that she has, anyway...). And, please, no comments about the licking of the baby. I know it's gross and we try not to have it happen, it just can't be helped sometimes....and Kevin took this video and he thinks it's funny.

Guess what??!!!

Maya got her ears pierced today!!!!!! Yes, to answer everyone's question...she cried. For about 5 minutes and then was over it. It was, in fact, the worst I've seen her cry in her 11 months of life (she hasn't really been a cry-er...) I mean these were gasping for breath sobs :( But...as the pain subsided she was fine and crawling around Claire's while her cousin screamed her head off getting her ears pierced!! :) Here are some shots of the day:
